This brass Syrian inlaid incense burner is elaborately embellished with trefoil accents encircling the top and bottom of the lid. Three of the sides contain Islamic script cartouches, which alternate with three trefoil etched and pierced medallions. All of this is accented with inlays of silver and copper. Measuring 8" to the top of the crescent moon finial and 3 1/4" across the belly of the lid, and with the gracefully arching iron legs 5" across, by 5" across the bottom, and weighing nearly a pound, this piece is surprisingly heavy. This piece is estimated to be 90-110 years old.
