| This brass Islamic medallion box has a great deal of detail and texture to it's traditional Mamluk influenced design. The top features three cartouches of Islamic trefoil patterns. The sides feature bands of Islamic script separated by stylistic round foliate medallions. The level of detail to this carving is absolutely mesmerizing. Meticulously hand carved, the fabrication of this type of metalwork is a dying art. This tray is moderately patinated with a few oxidation spots. Measuring 4" across and 2" high, and weighing nearly 3/4 of a pound, this piece is surprisingly heavy. This Tea caddy or box is estimated to be 80-120 years old | ||
