| Meticulously hand carved Kashmiri Copper Samovar. Heavily patinated, This particular samovar has some amazingly fine foliate detail featuring flowers and leaves, and lotus flowers with a serpent handle, and fancy ornamental openwork at the base. The lid had a smaller lid for access to the coal chamber tube which heats the water from within. This has been tested for leaks. I filled it to within 1 inch from the top and let it set for an hour, and there is no sign of leakage. It is in very good condition. Measuring 12" tall, and 10" from handle to spout, and weighing three pounds this is far more solid and substantial than usual for Kashmir copperwork from this period, This is estimated to be made in Kashmir 100 to 150 years ago. | ||
