Traditional Ghalamzan (Carved Persian Metalwork) design. The forest animals and flowers design across the belly is a typical Iranian theme popular since the Qajar (Victorian) era.
Copper is carved in relief with a scalpel or pen-like tool. This particular vase has some amazingly fine detail, accented in tin. The scenes are formed into medallion repeats around the belly, with rings in foliate, and beaded designs ascending up the neck wth Moghul semi medallion accenting the dovetailed spout.
Measuring 10 1/2", and nearly 5 3/4" at it's widest point, The opening is 2" across. Weighing 40 ounces before packing, this piece is unusually heavy. This piece is estimated to be made in Iran 60 to 100 years ago.

Throughout the Middle East and Central Asia, people gather around braziers of a variety of styles, to keep warm, heat tea or coffee, or cook food. This is a more recent piece, likely 50 to 80 years old, referred to in it's native Turkish as a Mangal. This can be used for entertaining on your deck or patio by simply placing embers from your Barbecue or fireplace into the coal pot. You can then warm tea or coffee in an Ibrik, cook shish-kabob, or use the coals for keeping your nargile (hookah or water-pipe) lit or add a pinch of bakhoor (incense) if you like. You may also prefer to use it as a very elaborate ice bucket. This unique item measure 33" tall and 20" across at the rim. It weighs 40 pounds packed. It has a wonderful mellow patina, this also has a matching carpet guard with wheels that appear to be added at a later time. Back in the 1970's people used to turn the tops into hanging lamps, and the bottoms into planters. As a result, relatively few complete sets can be found.

If this Scribes case could talk, oh what tales it would tell. Until this century, many people couldn't read or write, but still needed contracts, deeds and other documents drawn up. For many, the travelling scribe was every bit as valued as a lawyer or solicitor. This piece has is an exceptionally simple yet elegant piece, most likely from Turkey. A 19th century piece, it is in fine condition considering it's age. The pencase looks brassier in the photo than in person. There are some areas where the silvering has worn away. This is a little over 7" long, the attached inkpot is approximately 1 1/4" square.and weighs a little over 1/2 pound. This appears to be cast, then etched. A very substantial piece, it weigh over half a pound! Scribes used to tuck these cases into their belts, and the inkpots kept them from slipping through. A unique and historical item for your desk, or collection.
