Lovingly hand crafted, this 19th century enameled pot was made in Esfahan, (Isfahan) Persia (Iran) using a Cuerda Seca style of enameling. Cuerda Seca enameling is done in the following manner: The design is stamped or carved into the surface after which colored glazes are applied. The contours of the designs are detailed with a mixture of beeswax or vegetable fat and manganese oxide. I was very lucky to find this 19th century Divali or "Festival of lights" Indian oil lamp. The vertical parts have been hand cast, and show some have a very detailed and refined design, yet show some imperfections from the molding processes. The font and base are both hand spun. then the pieces were skillfully fitted together. It measures 19" high by 7" across and weighs 3.25 pounds

A very finely detailed aftobe or aftaba pitcher. Islamic calligraphy inscriptions in cartouches are lines to a poem, I'm told. There are semi medallion and foliate details on the neck. The silvering over the copper has worn and highlights the lettering. Measuring 16" tall by 6" wide in diameter by 10" and weighs four and a half pounds. This piece is estimated to be from the mid 19th century.

Meticulously hand carved Kashmiri sugar pot. Heavily patinated, This particular pot has some amazingly fine foliate detail featuring delicately carved snakes, with a serpent handle. It is in very good condition. Measuring 5" tall, and 5" across, and weighs 19 ounces before packing, this is far more solid and substantial than usual for Kashmir copper work from this period, This is estimated to be made in Kashmir 100 to 150 years ago.

A simple and charming Indo Persian silvered copper Huqqa base. Featuring finely etched jungle animals around the belly with a band of Islamic script, and simple flowers encircling above. The area near the top is extensively worn from years of use. There is also a dent near the top. This is a slightly unusual shape as the hose fitting is built into the huqqah itself. It measures 11.5" high by 6" in diameter and weighs 2 pounds.

This unusual Indo Persian Samovar is plated in tin and intricately carved in a geometric floral design and a silver wash which is mostly worn revealing the copper below. It measures 16" to the top of the coal chamber and 7" in diameter across the belly, with a spread of 9" from the dragon handle to the spout etched with a fish. By the mineral deposits within, it appears to have been well used. The lid is missing. The overall condition is good with a dent at the fretwork base. ...click for details

This unusual Indo Persian Samovar is plated in tin and intricately carved in a scrolly floral design with a niello finish. It has rings to tie straps to the back of a camel or horse. It measures 17" to the top of the coal chamber and 8" in diameter across the belly and at the fretwork base and weighs 7 pounds before packing.
