Intricately hand carved Kashmiri Brass Samovar. Lightly patinated, This particular samovar has some amazingly fine foliate detail featuring maple leaves, with a serpent handle, and fancy ornamental openwork at the base. The lid had a smaller lid for access to the coal chamber tube which heats the water from within. This has been tested for leaks. I filled it to within 1 inch from the top and let it set for an hour, and there is no sign of leakage. It is in very good condition with the exception of a small dent on either side. Measuring 12" tall, and 10.5" from handle to spout, and weighing three pounds this is far more solid and substantial than usual for Kashmir metalwork from this period, This is estimated to be made in Kashmir about 100 years ago.
