Turn of the 20th century Bedouin copper tray. This was used as a dining table. The woman of the house (or tent) would put a floor-cloth down, then bring the tray laden with salad greens, green onions, flat bread, and bowls and plates of food. The family would eat communally with their hands scooping up the food with bread or lettuce. The wear on the pattern is consistent with frequent scrubbing. Very little of the original tin plating remains as a result. It measures 26.5" X .5", and weighs 10lbs.

A smaller scale Moroccan shoeshine box intended for use as a personal valet for maintaining one's clothing and shoes. Various bottles for cleaning products as well as rose water and and other perfuming agents. It measures 12" long, by 11.5" tall, by 5" deep, and weighs about 8 pounds before packing. Although one would usually associate this style of shoeshine box with Turkey, the enameling is consistent in color and texture to Moroccan enamel, and I have seen similar full sized shoeshine boxes in use in Morocco in the past.

Vintage Brazier or Censer likely a reproduction of an earlier design. At first glance, the overall design appears to be Qajar Persian with the typical themes of birds and deer. However, it is marked with the name of the manufacturer and "made in Greece". The design is subtly carved with pierced areas which will let light through if a candle is burned within. The inside seems to be painted gold, perhaps to enhance reflectivity. This has water marks inside from previous use as a planter. The body of the piece is made of hand worked copper, and the handles are cast brass. This has three handles which is unusual for this sort of piece, possibly symbolic of the Holy Trinity. Measuring 7" high, by 10" across, this highly unusual piece weighs about 3 pounds.

There are three cartouches of Islamic script, alternating with lobed endless knot medallions. The rim has a braided endless knot pattern often seen in Celtic designs as well. The set includes six 2" "Gawa" or coffee cups (Zarfs) with green hand spun Egyptian Glass inserts, and the classically shaped 6" "Ibrik" or coffee server is tin-lined for safe usage. The covered sugar bowl measures 3" tall without the finial. The final photo shows the zarfs with a white porcelain insert instead of the spun glass. If you would prefer the porcelain inserts, please let me know when purchasing the set, and I'll make the substitution for you. This was made for the tourist trade around the turn of the 20th century.

Meticulously hand carved Kashmiri personal warmer. Lightly patinated, This particular Pot has some amazingly fine foliate detail featuring paisley snakes. The opening of the caged area has a pair of peacocks on either side. It is in very good condition. Measuring 8.5" tall, and 6" in diameter, and weighing one and a quarter pounds before packing, this is far more solid and substantial than usual for Kashmir brass work from this period. I'm told that coals would be loaded into the pot, and a cord would be attached to the loop, and it would be worn to help the wearer stay warm. This is estimated to be made in Kashmir 100 to 150 years ago.
